Members who will be greatly missed
Recently, the NCD lost 2 of our valued rose growing members. William Hartling of the NEW Rose Society, and also an officer of the NCD, serving as Roses in Review Chair, passed away in December. Bill was very active in the Northeast Wisconsin Rose Society and a consulting rosarian, master gardener and horticulture judge for many years. He was a knowledgeable and very friendly rose grower and will be greatly missed. He had just taken the Arrangement judging school last July and was a delightful participant. Our sympathies and love to his wife Jeanne and family.
Hal Woolf, of the Madison Rose Society, also passed away in December. He and his wife Charlotte were past co-presidents of the Madison Rose society and were very active in local events. He will be greatly missed and our sympathy and love to Charlotte and family.

Kudos to Andy Plasz
Congratulations to Andy Plasz, longtime friend of the North Central District (even though he resides in Illinois), on his national award given to him at the National ARS convention in Palm Springs, CA Fall 2009 Convention. Andy received the Klima Medal for excellence in rose education. He has an upcoming article in the March ARS magazine which should be enlightening. Congrats Andy!
North Central District Mid-Winter Meeting is March 19-21st, 2010

The ARS Needs
You!
The American Rose Society has embarked
on a national membership campaign and the North Central
District Rose Societies are pitching in to help. If
you haven't already joined, now is a great time to
do it. If you know someone who is interested in roses,
a membership to the ARS (as well as a membership to
their local society) makes a great holiday gift! Click
here for more information and to download the
printable signup form.
The American Rose
Society has partnered with US Bank to develop
a credit card program that rewards the ARS in
addition to our members. Each time you use the
card, the ARS receives a financial contribution
from US Bank. In addition, the card includes
reward benefits for you – with redemption
opportunities for gift certificates, merchandise
and travel options. Even if you already
have a credit card, you might want this card
as a way for you to track your rose related
purchases! The card design features a
beautiful red rose. |
